A Weekend Away in Upstate New York

A Weekend Away in Upstate New York

When I asked my sister why she loved Hasbrouck House, she said, “relaxation, wine, food, games, and love.” At the time, I didn’t understand why “love” had made it into her answer — we weren’t taking this trip to find love, we were taking this trip to relish in the peace and quiet of Upstate New York, as sisters. (Insert hashtag sister trip)

But as I reflected on her answer on the drive back to Manhattan, “love” started to make more sense. As soon as you step foot into Hasbrouck House, you do feel the love. From the decor to the staff, and the history of the house itself, you feel it all around.

The two nights and three days we had at Hasbrouck House was not enough. I could’ve sat outside by their fire pit, enjoying the sound of the leafless trees for another week. I could’ve also eaten at their restaurant, Butterfield, a couple more times so I had the opportunity to try everything I didn’t. (The Pilsner-Battered Cauliflower is a must, as is the Beaverkill Trout)

Hasbrouck House encourages you to pause in a time where time seems to move a little too fast. With a game room, spa services, and living room for all of its guests to relax, think and converse with one another, the opportunity for love is endless.
